In a world that often feels rushed, chaotic, and overly curated on social media, there’s something quietly powerful about choosing to romanticise your life. No, I’m not talking about luxury or extravagance—I’m talking about finding beauty in the ordinary, the everyday, and the in-between moments.
For me, romanticising my life is about living intentionally and allowing small rituals to become meaningful. It’s about looking at my day not as something to survive, but something to savour.
Here are some of the little things I do that make my life feel special—and they might just do the same for you.
☕ 1. I Make My Morning Coffee a Ceremony
Rather than rushing to pour caffeine into my system, I’ve turned my morning coffee into a slow, sacred ritual. I light a candle, play soft music, and sip it mindfully—sometimes by the window, sometimes with a journal. That one cup sets the tone for a grounded, present day.
📖 2. I Read for Pleasure (Not Just Productivity)
Even if it’s just ten minutes a day, I carve out time to read something that nourishes me—fiction, poetry, or a calming essay. It’s a small act that makes me feel rich in time, imagination, and inspiration.
🕯️ 3. I Use Candles and Scents to Create Ambience
There’s something almost magical about lighting a candle or diffusing lavender oil. I do this while cooking, winding down, or working at my desk. The soft glow and scent create a cosy atmosphere that feels like a warm hug.
🧺 4. I Romanticise Chores
Yes—laundry, tidying up, or even doing the dishes can feel lovely when paired with music, a podcast, or even dressing up a little for the day. I try to treat these not as tasks, but as moving meditations.
🌿 5. I Spend Time in Nature, Even If It’s Just a Walk
A five-minute walk with my phone tucked away can change everything. The sound of birds, the wind against my face, or the sun breaking through clouds—it’s all so simple, and yet deeply restorative.
🎶 6. I Create Personal Soundtracks
I have playlists for everything—slow mornings, golden hour drives, rainy afternoons. Adding music to life’s moments elevates them and makes even mundane routines feel cinematic.
✍🏽 7. I Journal Like I’m the Main Character
Every now and then, I write not just to record events, but to reflect on my life like a story. It’s an amazing way to connect with yourself and spot the little wins you might overlook.
☁️ 8. I Romanticise Solitude
Spending time alone doesn’t have to feel lonely. I take myself on little solo dates—whether it’s a coffee shop visit, a walk through a museum, or even a peaceful evening at home doing a face mask and watching a film.
